This was one of my favorite days of the entire school year… not only because of the crazy pink pants I had bought for the celebration.

I planned SO many exciting things for this day. I love love, and my students so much! I decided to start the day with this Anchor chart I had made telling each person in the room an individualized reason why I love them. They were so excited and I could tell it made them feel so special.

Moving on to literacy, we had planned the dramatic play set for the “Sweet Shop”. Students would use the sentence frames as either a customer or a cook, depending on what they had made or ordered. My friends love the kitchen, and any excuse to use it for instruction is always welcomed.

We also read the book, “Love Monster” and students got to make their own Love Monster, complete with silly eyes. There was a writing activity to go along with this where students wrote about someone or something they loved. After this, they had a choice to complete a sight word color by word activity, fill in the alphabet on hearts, and a few more different options.

For math, there was a lot of different options including filling in numbers on hearts, making ten with a “box of chocolates”, and subitizing with valentines days objects.

I felt the love for sure with my sweet kiddos!
