One of my assignments in a course was to participate in a twitter chat and post about our experience in a forum with other students in the class. This was monumental for me, as I had never used twitter in any other fashion than scrolling through funny posts. This class transformed the way that I view twitter, so I decided this would be a great assignment to add to my portfolio.

I did end up participating in the chat I intended on (the #falconslearn twitter chat). I was really excited about doing this one since Dayson Pasion (an educator) helped to keep it flowing! This one was about a very important topic- ICE and immigrants in the Raleigh community. I learned a lot as people were tweeting from the school (the assistant principal and other teachers), and also from other places in North Carolina. Some other education students from Elon University also chimed in! It was rewarding to hear so many different perspectives on such a controversial issue. I really thought this was a cool assignment. For next time, I would try to reply to people’s answers more. I think that this time I was so focused on trying to reply to the questions that I wasn’t as involved in actual discussion! I would love to participate in future twitter chats.
